i just got a new dell laptop which came with outlook
express. i can't read my email (on this OE) on the web,
e.g., on mail2 web site. can you help?

OE is only a Mail Client. The messages it contains are downloaded from your
ISP's or other mail accounts' mail server(s).

If you have configured OE to leave a copy of messages on the server
(Tools>Accounts>[mail account(s)]>Properties>Advanced), you will find them
at the corresponding online page.

Ask your ISP where to find the page (or look here, possibly:
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/sbc/mail/)

I think there's a basic confusion here. There's no such thing as
"Outlook Express Mail."

E-mail is sent to you, via your ISP. You can read that mail in a
couple of ways: you can use any standard E-mail POP3 E-mail
client (Outlook Express is one such program, but there are *many*
others); if your ISP provides such a facility, you can also read
it on the web.

Can you read your mail with Outlook Express? If not, please
explain exactly what happens when you try. I or someone else here
can very likely help you.

If you can't read your mail on the web, please explain exactly
what you do to get it, and exactly what happens when you try. If
this is a proprietary web site of your ISP, there may not be
anyone here to help you, but it doesn't hurt to try. It's
probably a good idea to contact your ISP with this kind of
problem.

Your question is poorly phrased. When one says "the web" when talking about
email, that usually means web browser based email, and doesn't have anything
to do with Outlook Express, which is a POP3 email client. I'm not familiar
with mail2. But, if it's a web browser based email service, like Hotmail,
you're out of luck. The only web based email service that Outlook Express
is written to function with is Hotmail. Other web based email should be
accessed with Internet Explorer. If you can't access web browser based
email with Internet Explorer, make sure that you have your cookies enabled
for that site. Web browser based email relies on cookies to access
accounts. There are some web based email services like Yahoo Mail, which do
offer POP3 access, for an extra fee. If mail2 isn't a web browser based
email service, and IS a real POP3 email service, then get with their support
and ask for help configuring Outlook Express for your email account.

They are talking about www.mail2web.com
This site lets you access your personal POP3 email account from within your
browser from any computer, anywhere. Great for access to your email while
you're out of town or at work, things like that.

Thanks for the info. I just looked at that web site. So, it's a
proprietary web based way of accessing email only from POP3 email accounts
(not web based email accounts like Hotmail). Then it would seem that
Outlook Express cannot be used, since the mail2web service itself is NOT an
email account. If the original poster is having problems logging into a
mail2web account go to:

http://www.mail2web.com/cgi-bin/help.asp#HowDoesmail2webWorks

and click the Login Problems? link on the right side of the page.
