Windows XP Professional.

My TDK CD/DVD burner/player will burn and play (music) ok but the CDs and
DVDs look blank when displaying the data on the monitor.

What could the problem be?

For instance; this morning I burned a downloaded copy of AVG program to a CD
but after the burn the disc looked blanc. I put the CD in my other CD drive
and all the files were displayed. ??

Don, how much age and usage on it? Not reading burned CD's is one of the
first signs of the Drive wearing out or maybe
a dirty lense. You could try a CD Drive Cleaner kit.

Thanks for the response Rich. The thing is I can see cda files but not txt,
exe and others.
All I can think to do is uninstall all my CD/DVD software and then reinstall
it all.

I agree with Rich. Music CDs are written and read differently than data
CDs. The key here is that you are unable to read any data CDs. That's not
<Martha Stewart> a good thing </Martha Stewart>.
