I have Dell Movie Studio software. I was successful in
reading analog vidio from my camera into this software.
My camera no longer works. So I put the tapes into a
cassette that will let me play them on my VCR. I have not
been successfull in reading from the VCR. I get a garbled
sound, but no vidio. A call to Dell support resulted in
me reloading my vidio driver. This made no difference.
The Dell tech told me that both VCR's that I used, an
Orion and a Samsung have a compatibility problem. I asked
the tech exactly what model of VCR's will work (as
advertised). He did not know, but he would try to find
out and get back to me. Needless to say, I have not heard
a thing. Anyone have any information for me, like what
kind of VCR will work. I have my doubts that any of them
work.

YOU SAY:
So I put the tapes into a
cassette that will let me play them on my VCR

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

THe tape from my camera fits into a special full size
video. I simply put that full size video into my VCR and
play the tape from my camera. It works fine. It is this
video playback on my VCR that I can not read into my PC.
I used to be able to read it directly from the camera
until thhe camera broke down.

This is from a rank amateur, but I can transfer tapes
from an RCA Home Theater VCR using an ADS Instant DVD 2
(sometimes) but I cannot use the same device (s) with
Movie Maker 2. I was told to get an Analog Video Card
($50) but can't find anyone who knows what this is. My
computer is a Gateway with a lot of stuff on it, but MM2
doesn't work. Any ideas?
