I have a Database which is on a Network server. I want to share this
Database's dta with some others, but I don't want them accidently changing
the data. I have added names to the Users group but it appears that if you
are attached to the server you have all the permissions, no matter what
permissions I gave to them. IT people here aren't up on Access.

The easiest way would be to implement user level security but give read
permissions for all database objects to the "users" group. If you haven't
already done so, I recommend reading and understanding the MS Access
security FAQ (link on my web site). Be warned, it is a long documents which
contains no filler, you must follow all steps in the order stated.

I have yet to meet an IT provider who is.
