When somebody requests a "Read Receipt" my outlook automatically sends
it. I want control of who gets that receipt and who doesn't. I have
Outlook 2000 and I can go to Tools/Options/E-mail Options.../ TRACKING
OPTIONS... and the option is there...but it is greyed out (May be
because I'm at work and the network that I'm running doesn't allow
this to be changed...) but I just want to check if anybody knows of a
way to change this?

(I have added an extra field that tells me if people are asking for a
receipt or not and I changed the "marked message as read" to be able
to block it) but this is somewhat very rough and not elegant way to
do it... any ideas?

Thanks for the help,

Tony

If the options is greyed out it could be that your administrator has set
this as a policy. Check with your IT-department if they know this and why
this is set in your organisation.

If it is not a policy; please check back :-)

But of course the administrator has set it of that way...that's the
whole point... I'm looking for a work around...better than the one I
have already...I'm surprise nobody out there knows of one (only found
one with this Shark something software, but you need to install their
stuff...wich I can't)

Thanks for your input anyway,

Tony

You're welcome!

Well actually that's the whole point of setting company policies. I think
you need to go in discussion with who ever makes your IT-policies. Not
sticking to your company policies (considered internal hacking) probably
won't go unrepremanded.

!!! I'm not looking for any illegal work around here, as I mentioned
in my e-mail I already found a way to do what I want to do (without
breaking the law!!) Geez, I'm just looking for a more elegant
solution...I don't want to be rude, but you are really not helping,
please don't waste your time writing if you have no solution to offer.
If you must know, the reason for the policy is that they don't want
to bother to have to explain to everybody how to "turn on" the
auto-receipt, this is "easier", that's all...but it does not do what I
need, so we are looking for a simpler solution that having to modify
the whole network...but anyway... you are not helping me, so again,
thanks for your time, you don't need to reply anymore. Hopefully
somebody out there has a solution.

In another posting somebody mentioned about a "rule" to stop replies
to receipt requests but as far as I can tell there is nothing
available for that.

Cheers,

Tony
