A little more detail would be nice.

What do *you* mean when you state you switched to a "network hard drive"?
Be specific.

If it is a file server - what operating system?

If it is a workstation pretending to be a file server - what operating
system?

If it is a NAS device - what type?

How are you managing share permissions?

How are you managing file/folder permissions?

Do you receive any errors?

How is the "network" drive formatted, what file system?

Be specific. - copied the folder to the network hard drive

If it is a file server - what operating system? - no

If it is a workstation pretending to be a file server - what operating
system? - no

If it is a NAS device - what type? - what is a nas?

How are you managing share permissions? - we share all between pc's & are
able to read & write the files on the network hard drive.

How are you managing file/folder permissions? - see above

Do you receive any errors? - no we check the read only, close the file &
when we again click on properties the read only is unchecked

How is the "network" drive formatted, what file system? - ntfs

TIA
