Read Only Problem

I am running access 2000 and have the database on a network server. I am having a problem with people accessing the database. There is a message that comes up saying that it is read only when there is no one else in the database. How can I fix this? It is really causing a problem

Make sure the users have read & write access to the
directory on the server.

I made sure they did when I requested the access for the users. I will have to make sure again though. Would there be any other problem

To test - copy the DB to one the local drive (or another
known network drive that they have full rights to) of the
people having trouble - does it work ok then?

Side note: make sure their default opening is to "shared"
and not "Exclusive" under Tools/Options/Advanced.
