The read only attribute for a folder in XP is typically ignored by windows.
You can still delete, rename or move the folder without any problems. The
Read-only and System attributes is only used by Windows Explorer to
determine whether the folder is a special folder, such as a system folder
that has its view customized by Windows like My Documents or the Fonts
folder. The only way you can change the attributes of a folder in XP is to
use the attrib command from a command prompt. If you change a folders
attributes, it will cause the folder to lose any customizations. See the
