I am trying to resolve a security issue involving a file i
want to be edited, but nto deleted, or replaced. I have
the file sitting alone in a folder which is read only.
Therefore no other files can be created within the folder,
and the file has security to deny deletion. Yet even
though the folder is read only, and nothing can be saved
in it, or created in it. If i create an empty file with
the same name, i can copy it, then paste it over the file
in the read only protected folder. But only if it's the
same name. This means that any user with read only access,
cannot even rename the file within it, yet they can
replace the file completely. Can anyone explain? suggest?
help? anything is appreciated. Thanks.

You really should try editing the security using the
advanced options. You have more granular control of the
security. I.E. You can specify different security
paramaters for, This folder only, This Folder, Files and
SubFolders. Files and Subfolders Only etc. Try using
those security options to accomplish your goal.
