I was sent a Read-only version of an Access 2000 database.
Is it possible to covert it to a "normal" version with
read/write permissions?

If this was sent to you on CD, then you need to copy the file to your hard
drive, then right-click on the file and select "Properties", then uncheck the
"Read-Only" attribute in the resulting dialog.

If you have an "uncompiled" database (typically, MDB not MDE, or ADP not
ADE) and necessary security permissions, you can change it any way you want.
If it is the database attributes that make it Read-Only, this applies.

If, on the other hand, you mean that the _file_ itself is flagged as
Read-Only, that happens often. When a file is transported via CD-ROM, it is
marked on the CD-ROM as Read-Only, and that status is carried along when it
is copied to the hard-drive. If that's the case, right-click, look at its
properties and clear the Read-Only property.
