I recently went to a local gaming center here in Abluquerque
and found out that next monday they are having a big party of sorts, actually more of a demostration. Its for a device call "Novint Falcon", has anyone heard or seen one of these in action? I cant really explain what it is or does as i only have a vague idea on how it works. But I do plan on going to see it, perhaps i will take some pics.
Here the website
http://www.novintfalcon.com

Looks interesting :D

The video makes it look interesting, but I can't think of many practical uses. Do let us know what you think of it when you see it first hand though :D

While I did managed to got to the event.... i forgot my camera :wall: There were about 7-8 machines working at the time but due to the number of people there i wasnt about to get a hands on it myself. :(
although it shows a promising concept if it works out as planned, the mini games they had that utilized the Novit Falcon, made the device look a little too gimmicky, i wasnt impressed. If they managed to get a real game running, like HL2 deathmatch which supports the Falcon, Then i would have sticked around longer to try it out. It looks neat for sure, but, until they have more support for games and/or i get to try one for myself.... i think i'll pass. Especially at the asking price of $200. Ouch.

I had high hopes for it too- i wanted to see how FPSs' would work. Looks cool... in a geeky sort of way :D

not tried 1 either but its looks cool and if it worked on FPS'ers then i might get 1

only thing i noticed about them is the lack of buttons - couldn't see any - and why change grip ? diff sizes or shapes ?

could see it being usefull for possible 3d work,
mabye in hospital, unless they already use similar stuff
is it key hole surgery or something, instead of the joystick, cos that thing has up and down, plus 360 movement

Actually on the littler knob itself there are about 3-4 buttons on there... sort of hidden cause you cant see em from the front.
To watch people use it looks kinda neat
