I have windows XP pro, a dell 2.4gig 512 etc etc....with
a dvd rw and another dvd drive....HOw does one copy over
RW material? example: I have a folder with a zillion
jpegs that are pictures shot of my daughter and I want to
back these up on disk.....I shoot more pictures and then
I want to add them to a RW cd or DVD as a backup but
can't...

I treat a RW disk as if it were any other media like
floppy or hard drive etc right?

Help!

There are programs like directcd that will let you format
a disk to write to but first I would not use rw disk but
cdrs to bun and use a software that comes with your
recorder to record the folder to a disk and close it.
cdrw disk are not that depenable and if you really want
to back them up and save them then use cdr disk.

No that's the problem. CD's have more in common with vinyl gramaphone
records than they do with hard drives. (The track on a CD is a spiral for
example not concentric rings). Have a look at Roxio EasyCD. This is a
"packet writing" program that makes a CD behave more like a hard drive (eg
drag and drop works) but at the expense of some loss of "portability" (For
example you can only read that type of CD on another PC with similar packet
writing S/W installed). However EasyCD allows you the best of both worlds eg
You can choose to format a CDs so that they either behave like an HD _or_
format them so that they can be opened on a PC that doesn't have packet
writing installed.
