My security system f-secure alerted me and recomended automatic delete
,which I did .Then I got a message saying all the files could not be
deleted. I do not remember the name of the virus but since then I have
reformatted the drive and run a full computer scan and nothing has shown up.

If you formatted and didn't attach the Infected external Drive to the
machine, then you are Okay.
If you formatted and didn't install the Anti-Virus with upd2date
definitions, and attached the Infected External Drive then you infected?.

Isn't Albert asking the question in the circumstances that he formats
the removable drive not the internal drive?

Hi Gerry,
It could be either, the OP left it mild for us to scratch our heads on this,
hence his/her saying:
" I do not remember the name of the virus but since then I have
reformatted the drive and run a full computer scan and nothing has shown up"?.
