Re-using old kit for best value?

I've got a Socket A (462) system with 1Gb PC3200, an Athlon XP3200 and
an AGP Nvidia 6800GT. (It's my spare system but gets a fair amount of
use for gaming)

Problem is that the motherboard has just blown. Now I could go an buy
a new mobo for about £60, but I was wondering whether there was anyway
to reuse the kit I have to get a much better PC for not much more
money?

I was thinking of, perhaps, getting a Celeron (they are available from
just £25) and a cheap Intel mobo - but that would probably require me
to buy new RAM - right? and perhaps not have an AGP port?

Is there a cheap solution to use this opportunity to improve
performance? or should I just buy a new Socket A mobo?

Thanks

My recommendation (considering what you have) would be to get a new
compatible motherboard. Anything else in a reasonable price-range would
likely be far less capable compared to what you're used to. Your
present CPU, for example, is worth more than the whole package of CPU,
motherboard, and RAM for the alternate you suggest.

I do know of this motherboard, which has been around for a while:
www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157115

It will accept your video card and memory (up to 2 sticks).

The interactive CPU and VGA charts at www.tomshardware.com can help you
determine relative performance of hardware.
http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007.html
You would have to go back to the 2005 charts to find the XP3200+.
