Thanks very much for your help every one. I have
had a look at that link. It looks good.
I feel more confident in doing the job now, but I have to wait
till the begining of Febuary because of slow Internet.

There is one thing I still feel a bit concerned about
though, and that is IE6 does not appear in the C\: files.
wouldn't it show on the hard drive if I still had it on
the computer?

it's in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer

BTW: If you need to download anything...January is just a good a month for
downloads as February

Planned upgrade of internet connection perhaps Philo?

Tassie you need to post follow messages as replies to the original
thread and not as new messages.

Yes...perhaps an upgrade from dial-up to DSL...
but even when I had a dial-up connection...with the help of a download
manager...
even a fairly large download was possible.
I usually downloaded the stuff at night when I was asleep.

I suppose you counted bytes rather sheep Philo?

Thanks, but when I click on IE in C:\ programs and it shows all the
files, there isn't one that refers to IE6.
I don't know whether it ofcause might be bundled in one of
those files or not. ( connection wizard, plugins,
custstat, IEDW, IExplore, EN-US, signup, HMMAPI.dll, IEproxy.dll.)

I just thought that perhaps when I installed IE7, I might have clicked
on an option the un-install IE6.

Apologies for my lack of knowledge!

IExplore is the executable for Internet Explorer. Try double-clicking on it
for verification of this.

When I double click on iexplore, it brings up the browser on the
Internet, and clicking on "properties" of iexplore shows
V. 7.0.6000.16574.

When you install IE7 on WinXP SP2 it removes IE6. The IE6 file are stored
in C:\Windows\ie6 in compressed form in case you want to remove IE7.

Thanks, That sounds encouraging, but why does it not
show up some where in C:\ files?

Are compressed filed hidden?

Not necessarily, but I think that one is.
