Re-setting XP password

We are a small business and provided a laptop to one of our employees. The
employee put a password on the account, and has now left the company, but we
don't have the password. Is there a way to reset the password without
knowing it? I tried to re-install XP, but it won't let me get to the XP
install without entering the password to the laptop.

Just want to refresh this laptop -- We're okay with losing all the data...

Thanks in advance.

At starting computer, tap the F8 key, select safe mode, enter as administrator,
control panel,user accounts,select,change a user account,in the old account,
delete the password.Worse comes to worse, download the mfg DOS utility for
the hd(s),start computer to the utility,in the utility, format the hd,then
shutdown,
restart computer to xp cd.

sounds like BIOS password and not Windows password.
have to clear bios by removing MB CMOS battery or using CMOS clear BIOS
jumper.
'Have to open case to get at both, at least for desktop.
no geek in the office?
