RightFax is a high capacity network fax server, developed by Captaris. The
RightFax Util is the Windows user client. The best support contacts should
be th inhouse RightFax system administrator, your RightFax vendor, or
Captaris Support, if you have a support agreement (520-320-7070). Here is a
TechNote.

Issue/Question:
I'm receiving error(s) 1722 and/or 1717 when trying to connect to the
Rightfax Server. What's going on?

Answer:
Here are some troubleshooting tips to help identify what is causing your RPC
communications issue.

First, it is necessary to determine what programs other than RightFax have
been installed on the machine. Please check to see if Antivirus software is
running. If it is running, please leave it running for the next step. Stop
ALL RightFax services, open a command line and type in the following
command:

"netstat -a >C:\netstat.txt"

Allow approximately 2 minutes for the netstat log file to be created, then
please check that created.txt file to find out what (if anything) has
established a connection on ports 1052/1053. If you're unsure how to make
heads or tails of the output, please email it back to Captaris Support for
further analysis. Typically, when the RightFax RPC server module is running
you will notice an "established" connection on port 1052. If it is stopped
you should no longer see connection as being "established". Should you
notice that it is staying "established" even after all the services for
Rightfax have been stopped, then you more than likely have another
application which is occupying one or both of these ports.
It is recommended that you obtain a comprehensive port monitoring utility,
which can show you what is occupying the port(s) in question. More
specifically, these port monitoring utilities should show you what
executables are listening on any given TCP/UDP port.

Lastly, it is also very important to check your Event logs. Are there
errors? Please be prepared to furnish these logs whenever calling Captaris
Support.
