I would like to completely erase my hard-drive, everthing,
even the deleted files and then re-load Windows XP. Does
anyone know how I will be able to re-registered XP with
Microsoft?

Just do it on the internet as normal. DON'T forget to activate a firewall
before you do!

Registration wasn't required in the first place, and there's
never a need to do it a second time.

However what *is* required is activation, and that's probably
what you meant. Yes, you can reformat, reinstall, and reactivate
as often as you like. if it's been over 120 days, reactivation
over the internet will proceed just as it did the first time. If
fewer than 120 days, you'll be prompted to make a voice call to
an 800 number. That's also quick and easy.

Not true, one will not have to make a phone call even if before the 120 day
period due to a total reinstallaion of XP. *If* the hardware hasn't been
changed, it will still go thru via the net as usual. I have done this quite
a few times, and never had to make a call.

You're right. Sorry for the misstatement.

Greetings --

There's no requirement to register WinXP at all, so I'm guessing
that you're really asking about activation.

There's no limit to the number of times you can reinstall and
activate the same WinXP license on the same PC. Nor is there ever a
charge. If it's been more than 120 days since you last activated
that specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able to activate via
the Internet without problem. If it's been less, you might have to
make a 5 minute phone call.

Here are the facts pertaining to activation:
