Hi,

My company have a few hundreds of Kiosk with operating system windows
xp sp2.

The Automatic Update is on. All the Kiosk cannot access internet, only
LAN. So effectively cannot automaticly update itself.

All the XP have been activated before. Running for a few months
without problem.

Then sometimes some computers would pop up a message
"This copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can
log on".

Why is the problem occur? Any method to fix it?

Thanks.

Regards,
Bill

Hi Bill,
If the units do not have access to the Internet for updates/patches then
this could be an indicator of extended user access. Only in the event of
hardware changes, failure of validation tool or user interaction (removal of
the wpa files from the system32 folder) will the activation records need to
be rebuilt/validated.
Upon the notice to activate you should see the choices of Activate over the
internet, Activate using a telephone, or activate later. Using the phone
method via a remote connection (on your lan I hope) would likely be the
simplest answer at this point but not the most efficient. I would suggest
contacting your Supplier for a point of distibution method or a qualified
Systems Technician.
