I can't seem to burn anything with my laptop.

I have installed Cyberlink Power2Go and every time I open the program,
it says "no burner is currently available or you don't have rights to
access the burner". I have read a similar thread saying that in order to
solve this problem, I'd have to delete the upper and lower filters. The
problem is I don't have those in my regedit so that does not seem to be
the problem.

I really don't know what to do now anymore. I've uninstalled and
reinstalled the program but still to no avail. I've tried Nero also but
still I can't burn with it. Please help me. What else can I do now? I
really need this problem fixed asap. Thank you in advance.

Uninstall all third-party burning software.
Then place a new, blank CDR in the drive.
What happens?

i've already uninstalled all the other burning softwares.. the only
software i have now is cyberlink's power2go..

if i insert a blank CD, it won't detect it.. it would say 'please enter
a disc into drive E'.

My OS is microsoft windows vista home premium service pack 1.

as i've said, every time i open the power2go software, it would say
that No burner is currently available or you don't have rights to access
the burner and i can't burn anything after that.

that's just about it. what more info can i give you? thanks..

Sounds like your burner has a hardware fault.

but it can play CDs and DVDs, just not burn it.. what do you suggest i
do now?.. =(

CD/DVD RW drives have TWO separate heads AFAIK - one for reading and one
for burning. It might be that the burning one has gone, which is why it
can still play disks but not burn them. I've heard of this happening
before...
