I had to re-install Win XP Pro. The re-install went well, except when
prompted, I gave a Windows System Folder a lousy name. The folder in
question is located in: C:\Documents and Settings. Other folders are names
User, Admin, etc. Is there are way to change the name?

The way I am reading what you wrote - you installed Windows in your
Documents and Settings folder?!
Do this:

Start --> Run -->

cmd /k ECHO %SystemRoot%

OK.

What is at the top of the command prompt window (inside the window, not the
title)?
(For most it is C:\WINDOWS.)

Or - do you mean it created a user profile in your documents and settings
folder whose naming scheme bothers you?
(The name of this folder holds little bearing in the working of the system -
as long as you leave it as Windows made it by default.)

It's the 2nd one. I named a user folder and want to change it.

Thanks and sorry for the confusion.

There really is no way to "rename" it. The only way to change the user name
you use is to create a NEW user account with the name you want and copy the
profile from the account with the name you dont want.

To copy the profile:

1. go to the System Control Panel
2. click advanced
3. click Change in the user profiles section
4. Select the profile with the name you don't like/want
5. Click copy to
6. Click browse, navigate to the Documents and Settings folder, and click on
your NEW user account

NOTE: You must log in to the new account before you can copy the profile!

Hope this helps,

Sorry, forgot to mention: You must be logged in as "Adminstrator" to copy the
profile.
