I recently had my hard drive replaced. When I received my
computer back from the service tech, I found they had
installed a version of win2000pro that was different than
mine. I left it on my computer and proceeded to install
all my other programs. When my wife informed me that she
did not have all the fonts that she had before, I tried to
install my version of win2000pro over the top of
everything else and now my computer will not boot up, it
just hangs. My brohter told I could do that. Now it
appears I may have to format my drive and start from
scratch. My question is, can I find documentation
somewhere that will give me step by step instructions on
how to properly format my hard drive and re-install
Windows2000Pro. If so, can someone point me in the right
direction or send me such documentaion Via E-mail.
My E-mail address is (e-mail address removed). Thank-
you, Rene.

To do a clean install, either boot the CD-Rom or boot the Windows 2000 setup
disks. The set of four install disks can be created from your Win2k CD-rom;
change to the \bootdisk directory on the cd-rom and execute makeboot.exe
(from dos) or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.
