My computer came with windows xp and after 6 months I
decided to format the hard drive and reload windows xp.
I have not been able to get windows xp to load from the cd
because my cd drive is not recognised. I have tried
loading windows 98 then windows xp but 98 does not
recognise the correct size of my hard drive and I then get
errors when upgrading to my xp.
Is there a simple way to reload xp on a hard disk that has
been formatted?

If you are reinstalling Windows xp on a blank HD then grab
a Windows 98 boot disk and fdisk it first. Now there is a
problem with Fdisk if the drive is larger than 60GB. The
problem is that Fdisk will partition the drive to only
10gb. Microsoft has recongnized this problem and has a fix
it located in the Knowledge Base (sorry dont have the Q
article).

As for reinstalling XP from dos, check at this Q-Article
(307848) out..

Also this site contains the fdisk link as well.
