I upgraded my computer from WinMe to XP Pro. During the
upgrade I just used the old FAT32 format for my hard drive.
After the install, I went ahead and did the activation too.

But now I want to move to the NTFS format for the hard
drive. If I re-install WinXP now, will activation complain
that this XP Pro has already been installed once?

Thanks for your reply.

Hi, You dont even have to format to convert FAT32 to NTFS
http://aumha.org/win5/a/ntfscvt.htm

Although you still may format if you wish. You may activate on the same PC
as many times as you wish. If the activation wizards fails just select
"activate by phone"

Reactivating is not a problem. But you don't need to reinstall
Windows to move to NTFS. You can convert using the convert
command. But first read http://www.aumha.org/a/ntfscvt.htm
because there's an issue regarding cluster size that isn't
obvious.

Also note that conversion is a big step, affecting everything on
your drive. When you take such a big step, no matter how
unlikely, it is always possible that something could go wrong.
For that reason, it's prudent to make sure you have a backup of
anything you can't afford to lose before begining.
