Whether or not the messages and folders get saved, you can and should make a backup copy of the .pst file where the messages are stored. They are usually located in "C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook". And the filename is usually outlook.pst, but I recommend backing up any .pst files on your computerjust to make sure you backup the right one. Just do a search of the c: drive for .pst, and make copies of the .pst files that are found. Store your backup copies in a location other than the outlook folder, for example on the desktop or in 'my documents' folder. That way if the outlook folder gets deleted in the process, you won't lose your backups. After you have reinstalled outlook, if the messages are gone, then use the import option on the file menu and follow the prompts for importing the folders in the backed up .pst file back into outlook. Good Luck
