Greetings --

System Restore and reinstalling Windows XP are two different things.
Reinstalling back in the days of Windows 98 fixed everything. Now with
Windows XP reinstalling doesnt need to be done that often. The only reason
you should reinstall Windows is (1) Just because you want too. (2) Adding
new hardware to your system (repair install). (3) because you can't fix a
problem and dont want to spend time tring to fix it. or (4) your problem
just can't be fixed.

.Restore can bail your butt out, however it is unreliable

It depends on who you ask - some ppl say System Restore works fine others
despise it. I have seen where some MVP's have suggested if you are going to
use System Restore make sure to allot no more than 1 Gig for restore
points - the more space allotted, the more chance of problems i guess.
My personal choice is to use GoBack, a FAR superior system restore program -
the program has been improved over the years and has saved my bacon on more
than one occasion. I HIGHLY recommend it !!

Good luck,

Ray
