My computer had a virus a few days ago and I deleted some
files and some registry keys (According to a write-up just
thr virus created keys - I know, bad idea fooling with the
Registry). The file csrss.exe was listed in the virus
write-up and I found all instances of it and deleted them,
this may be the problem as I think I just had to get rid
of the one in the indicated folder). Since then, the OS
will not start. The splash screen starts but the computer
keeps rebooting, a continuous loop. I tried the repair
options, but no go. I want to re-install Windows 2000 Pro
but don't want to lose the information already on the hard
drive. Will re-installing the OS wipe out the data on the
hard drive? Alternately, what about a parallel
installation? Any drawbacks there?
Thanks.
