Hi,

My present card, PowerColor 9600proEZ 256mb, is shortly going to be sold on
and replaced by a Sapphire Radeon 9600XT 256mb.

Do I need to uninstall the drivers, fit the card then re-install? or will
the drivers detect the card change?

thanks

Steve

My guess is that the drivers will hardly notice the change. If they do,
uninstall, clean, and reinstall.

Hi there,

Before buying a 256 mb Radeon 9600XT it might be worthwhile checking
out the comments posted by Eric Glaister shortly after your own post.
It appears a number of people have had problems with 'memory' on the
256Mb cards.

I'm now glad I chose to order the 128 Mb version (Hightech) of the
9600XT a few days ago.

I too bought a 128 meg version, from Asus. In one case I read that the
256 meg memory was slower in order to keep the cost about the same. Most
urrent games can get along with 128. Although I've seen settings on Call
of Duty that indicate I would need 256 if I wanted to turn them up to
the max.
