Guys I have two sata hard drive on my computer This is intel server board computer. I am not using this machine for server. Well I am trying to wipe my win2k operating system and reinstall winxp pro.

These hard drives was setup as raid 1, So when I go to bios setup I don’t see those hard drive under primary hard drive. Under primary hard drive it shows my cd rom drive. I think this is normal because of the fact that this PC was setup as raid 1. When I go to boot order I do see my raid card listed on second boot. Moreover when I start my computer it does shows mirrored hard drive.

Anyway I am having two problem:

  • raid driver that I have on floopy is setup.exe, which I can only install if I have operating system running. I don’t think I can load this setup.exe when I press F6 option (option that you get when trying to install win xp from CD) to install raid driver. How do I get the driver on floopy instead up setup.exe.

  • If I go with the option of not using raid and just using these drives as regular drives, I can’t install my xp operating system because system doesn’t find hard drive. How can I disable the raid and make my hard drive to appear as regular hard drive? By that I mean to say make it appear under the primary hard drive list.

Thanks

This is a wild guess . Could you not set the pc to boot from cd put in the os disc and then you may be able to reformat the disc . It is just a wild guess .

Thanks for the reply. Nothing wrong with wild guess, i do that all the time. I did understand the part about setting the pc not to boot from cd, but not the second part where you mention formating the disk with os disk. I think I should have been more specific on my post. This computer doesn't boot with the OS cause it is dead. It tells me Os not found. That is why i was thinking of installing xp instead of spending time to fix the windows2k OS.

Thanks
