Watcha!

A couple of things:

1. Can you get to the recovery console? i.e. press F8 and choose Recovery
Console? If so, then that gives you a command prompt - what you do from
there is up to you of course - if you have another hard drive or partition
you could copy your data over from there.

2. When you install Windows XP it won't necessarily delete the partition
unless you choose to (there is a bit where you have to select the partition
to delete and then you press the letter 'L'. What you could do is install
to the same partition but to a different folder say WINNT or WINXP.

When you get to the 'L' bit it is because you have already chosen to delete
a partition during the setup (previous screen I think), so you wont get
prompted to delete (L) if you have chosen that path.

Prior to that option you will be given the choice of which partition to
install to for arguments sake let's say you have a C and D drive, then you
will be able to highlight which drive you want to install to, I think you
then press Enter to on the partition/drive which will carry on the
installation.

As to forcing the Command Prompt I don't know apart from getting into the
Recovery Console.

Hope all goes well and don't forget it's only a computer!
aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!
