F Fitz Feb 1, 2006 #3 Windows reverts to PIO mode only after there have been a specific number or errors with a particular device. Once it does, then a registry edit is necessary to re-enable DMA. The procedure is here: http://www.aiscl.co.uk/How_to_ForceDMA.htm Fitz
