Re-creating users in Active Directory..?

Hi,

We are having a problem with our user accounts on a Win2k
Server/WinXP Pro desktop - in that: when the users were
imported from NT4 there must have been some security
issues as we cannot remove users from 'Domain Admins'
group without them having problems with profiles/viewing
https:// web pages and others..

Upon creating new users from scratch there are no issues,
and users can be placed in appropriate security groups
without problems.

When creating new blank users can the existing 'old' user
profiles still be used/associated to the new user? or are
these linked through a registry setting? SID?

Any help appreciated.

Just a guess -- did you put these folks in Domain Users or
other groups that might provide access to those shares?

If you put them only (or nearly so) into Domain Admins then
perhaps you need to add them to more groups.

If that doesn't help, then try manual access to these resources
and isolate the problem (move the problem out of "logon" and
from "behind the web server.") and then provide the exact
error messages and behavior.
