re-creating business document templates the MVP way

Prior to studying the MVP Word faqs, I created all my
business templates as Word "documents" incorporating Word
and merge fields to be used in a mail merge from Outlook
2002.

I mistakenly used Word toolbars for formatting. The
resulting documents were often uncontrollable and
unpredictable.

Having seen the error of my ways I am embarking on a
quest to remake all of my business templates as
word "templates" following the MVP Word faqs.

The question is, how can I cut and paste all of the
content from the old business templates [Word documents]
into my new word templates [Word templates]without
bringing in all of the old troublesome formatting?

Please advise.

Can you be more specific about what kind of formatting is a
bother? And what are you going to replace it with?
