Occasionally my computer will re-boot on it's own.
Usually when I go to activate a program. It just shuts
down and re-boots. Anyone having had the same experience
and fix to the problem, your help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I originally had the same problem but was able to fix it
by going to Microsofts web page, letting it scan my
machine for any patches/updates, then loading those
patches.

I can't say this will specifically work for you but I
found 26 patches (mostly security related) and 1 driver
update. I did the driver update first (as that is usually
the most important) and that stopped my re-booting
problem. I had to actually download the patch on another
machine first, as my XP machine kept re-booting during the
download process. So, I downloaded it on my laptop to a
zip drive, then transferred and installed it to my XP
machine, and the automatic re-booting stopped.

I hope this helps - good luck,

Lynn

By default WinXP reboots after a blue screen. To see the blue screen, click
Control Panel | Performance and Maintenance | System. On the Advanced tab
click Settings in the Startup and Recovery section. Uncheck "Automatically
restart".
