Hi

I am working in a lab at the moment redesigning multiple
Forests for Problem repros. I have a two Domain Forest
where the parent (root Domain) was reinstalled from
scratch (Two DCs in the Domain completely reinstalled)The
same name was used for the Domain as before & I am aware
that new SIDs have been applied; My issue is that I have a
Child Domain that I would like to reintegrate with the NEW
Root Domain. I only have one DC in the Child Domain...any
thoughts (The Forest is W2K)

Cheers

This is done during dcpromo. You will have to add a NT 4.0 BDC to the child
domain, run dcpromo on the Win 2k DC to remove AD (and loose user info),
promote NT 4.0 BDC to PDC, then upgrade to Win 2k and add it to the root
domain during dcpromo.

Or you can set up a new Win 2k DC as a child domain of your root domain and
use ADMT to migrate users from the orphaned Win 2k child domain to the new
Win 2k child domain. If you must have the same domain name for the new child
domain this may not work. You will have problems setting up the trust needed
to use ADMT if the two domains have the same name.
