most MTU is set for 1492 and hsould be fine. What router are you using to
connect?

Hi Mackey,

If you are using PPOE on your ADSL I would check to see how often the router
"verifies" the login for PPOE. You might even go as far to actually run a
ping (output to a text file) to see if the ping communication actually drops
off at verification.

My experience with TS drop offs have been more intenet connection and
hardware than TS registry related. Do you have the drop off issues on the
LAN?

Anyone come across dropping off from terminal service connection (W2K)
connected through ADSL? I have read quite a few articles on web regarding
MTU (maximum transmission unit), auto discovery of MTU and discovery of
"dead router".

Had set all these parameters in the registry but still dropping off. The
connection is through PPPOE.

Some also suggested to open up the capability of "Pinging" from both
internal and external on our firewall. Isn't this compromise your internal
network security?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Drop issues on the LAN? Not at all.

The only thing I can think of it, is the "ping". I do not allow any "ping"
from outside to the router and local LAN. My understanding is that ISP
server will use "ping" to communicate with my internal server when it has
problems with packet size or MTU. That message will not arrive to my
internal server since the firewall blocked all outside "ping" to internal
network or the firewall. I can open up "ping" for external user but does it
compromise my internal network security?

I meant to ping from LAN to Internet. This definitely sounds like either an
ISP or ISP Connection issue (router, etc). Is it possible to temporariily
replace the router at the remote site....or host site?

SORRY. COULDN'T FIND THIS KEY IN REGISTRY. PLEASE DIRECT ME TO THE RIGHT
PLACE.

THANKS
