RDP-No Terminal Servers and Security Database

I am unable to get one of my computers to connect via Remote Desktop/Remote Assistance with another.

Computer A: Windows XP Professional
Computer B: Windows XP Professional
Router: Linksys Wireless Router

First, from Computer A I can broswe the network and map a share from Computer B. Computer B can "see" Computer A on the network, but says that I do not have rights to that resource.

Next, I have turned on all network-related services on both computers (Terminal Services, Telnet, NetBios services, Remote Desktop, Remote Assistance, all 'remote-' services) and no firewall/router issues are preventing access. Also, I am the administrator for all computers. No security policy has been set on either computer that would prevent Interactive logins, or other such restrictions.

Issue: When I go to enable either computer to accept remote desktop connections and try to add users that are allowed to connect I get the object picker window, but the Location field is always set to the local computer and I am NOT able to access any of the user objects from the other computer - I've tried the Advanced and Find features without any luck - only local objects show up. When I click the locations button to change the locations from where to get objects the only computer that shows up is the local computer. Every computer is on the same network, no conflicts, no security, no router firewall, no services not running, no ICF/ICS, and they are all on Workgroup "WG1."

WG1
+ ComputerA
+ ComputerB

Computer A can map shares from Computer B, but Computer B can't map Computer A. Neither can change the Location from which to allow users to connect remotely to the computer. All are on the same network, same workgroup, have all services running, and no firewall running, nor local security policy that would stop them from connecting.

What am I missing?

You won't be able to add users from other computers unless you are on
a domain... You must add these users to your computer...

This also answers your first issue. Each computer has a seperate user
database and they don't talk to each other (this will change in
Longhorn, but that is a few years away).

Did I see something about "castles?"(or is that something else)--got a
reading reference?

The castle service... It doesn't work well with the PDC Longhorn
build...

From a developer post:

I believe I've heard "Castle" referred to as a "serverless domain".
Essentially, I believe it allows sharing of information and resources
between computers in the same "castle" in a more in-depth way than
occurs in a workgroup.

There is a bit of documentation included with the DVD...

Thanks--that does sound interesting, I'll see what I can spot on the DVD.

Maybe tomorrow I'll try to resuscitate my dead drive and upon failing, get
it RMA'd and then be able to actually run Longhorn!

I did a google groups search (boy do I love what that can do!) and found the
whole 4 messages about castle in the developer groups. It does sound good,
and might well push Longhorn faster into some small groups--My guess is that
this will work across slow links and IPV6.
