I don't have any issues connecting to computers on my network through a
sonicwall firewall using the latest version of RDP on a XP sp2 system. But
when I try to connect to the same computers using Vista it initially tries to
connect but then times out?

Any Ideas?

Can the Vista telnet remote computer port 3389? You need to enable telnet first for Vista.

Any error messages?

Are you calling the correct local LAN IP address?

How do you have the Vista RDP 6.0 client configured? For a Vista to XP Pro
Remote Desktop connection go to "Options -> Advanced -> Connect from
anywhere -> Settings" window and check the "Do not use a TS Gateway server"
configurable. Also make sure you have the "Options -> Advanced -> Server
authentication -> Authentication Options" configured for "Always connect,
even if authentication fails" selected.

The only error I get is Your remote Desktop session has ended. I have the
RDP already configured as you suggested. Again, I have configured my
Sonicwall Firewall to allow communication on port 3389 for TCP&UDP. I can
connect to these computers from an XP machine without a problem, but when I
try from Vista it starts to load the desktop then times out. I can connect
to these computers from inside my local network with vista but not from the
outside. Are there any other protocols needed to establish these connection
from the outside?

What OS are the computers your trying to connect to running, ie. XP Pro,
Vista or a server OS?

FWIW, you don't need UDP Port 3389 open on your firewall. Close that...

Any chance firewalls, software or hardware, are filtering incoming Remote
Desktop connections by IP? In the XP SP2 Windows Firewall you should check
to see if Remote Desktop is configured for any IP on the internet versus the
local subnet (the default) or a specific IP or IPs local or otherwise.
