Hi,

How concerned should we be regarding security during RDP sessions on a
private LAN behind a Linksys router (WRT54GX2) with the firewall
enabled, aside from changing the router's SSID and password regularly?
We have no plans to access the LAN from the "outside" (mostly due to
security concerns).

Thank You.

The native RDP session is fully encrypted. Using a *strong* password for
remote access is always recommended.

Changing the wireless network SSID to something uniquely identifiable is a
good practice and may help you identify your network when troubleshooting
wireless connectivity issues. Using a long random key is also recommended.
Personally I use WPA-PSK (AES) with a 63-character random ASCII key to
protect my home wireless network.

Note that changing the wireless network SSID and using a long random key has
nothing to do with RDP security.
