Great Newsgroup ! Thanks..

I use my phone line modem to connect to my office computer
from home,
then due to incoming call.. my modem cuts off..
then my network connection is somehow disabled..
do you guys know why and how to prevent it ?

Thanks.

You have call waiting on your home phone number.

You need to disable this feature while using the line for modem calls.

This is done in the dialling rules associated with the location which is
associated with the modem

Go to Control Panel, network connections, and right-click on your connection
to the office, and choose properties.

Look for "dialling rules", and once found, for "call waiting". You'll need
to know the particular sequence that disables call-waiting in your area.
The Windows XP machine I am looking at has 4 possible strings--you need to
check in the phone book for which one works in your area.
