RDC is still not working

No, XP Home machine and my laptop are not networked but
are connected to the internet via a cable modems and same
ISP. I tried pinging the remote IP address from my
laptop, but it was unsucessful. It gave me "Request Time
Out" message. I tried pretty much everyhting and I dont
know what to do next. Do I need maybe uninstall Norton
Antivirus?

I have followed the steps that you listed below and
nothing has worked. The error has changed to:

"The remote computer disconnected the session because of
an error in the licensing protocol. Please try connecting
to the remote computer again or contact your rerver
admin."

I dont know what to do. this is really getting to me. I
cannot get a normal answer from anyone including the
Microsft folks who develope this stuff in the first
place. I would to know what can I do to fix this problem.

That's a new error message.... :(

Per MS:
The remote computer disconnected the session because of an error in
the licensing protocol. Please try connecting to the remote computer
again or contact your server administrator.

Cause: The licensing protocol handles the communication of licensing
information between your computer and the remote computer. If there is
an error in the licensing protocol, your computer cannot be connected
to the remote computer.

Solution: Try connecting to the remote computer again. If you
continue to receive this error message, contact the server
administrator.


You shouldn't get this error on a XP machine since there shouldn't be
licensing issues...
