we are using windowsXP embedded on a computer inside of a machine. The
machine/computer is less then 3 months old. several times when we go to
shutdown the machine, we get a blue screen of death saying the following:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent
damage. the problem seems to be caused by the following file: rdbss.sys

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

there is a bunch more data in the message and then at the bottom it says
"beginning dumpt of physical memory. physical memory dump complete. "

the first time we got this.....we tried rebooting 4 times and this message
kept on coming up. we were then told by the manufacturer of our machine
that we had to reinstall XP. we did this from a ghost CD. when this was
done, things seemed fine for a week. after that first week of running fine
after the re-install, we have received this screen twice. luckily, each of
these last two times......it was fine after reboot.

what could be causing this problem and what is the best way to fix this? we
spent a lot of money on this machine and can't afford to have OS errors
causing us to go down. thank you in advance for your help.

Derek:

Do a google search for rdbss.sys and see if anything applies to your
situation.

Derek,

Unfortunately this newsgroup is for people like the manufacturer of your
device. We use the same tools they did to create runtime images of XP
Embedded for devices like the one you purchased. It's best to contact the
manufacturer as they are the only ones who can change the image. It's the
same as someone having a program like Excel vs having the source code for
Excel to change the way the program works. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
