Hello all. I have a problem with RD Web connection. I am trying to connect to my computer at home via the Internet. When I get to the login screen, I get prompted with a Security Warning. It says:

Do you want to install and run "Remote Desktop AcitveX Control"?

The publisher cannot be determined due to the problems below:
Content does not match the signature.

I click yes, and I cant click on the connect button. It is grayed out so I can't click on it.

Any ideas?

Have you checked for and applied critical updates via WindowsUpdate at home,
since you installed RD Web connection?
(I'm having trouble imagining the cause for that error message!)

No I have not. I will try and do that next. In the time that I posted that message til now I ran into another problem. I restarted my computer and after the Windows XP logo starting up goes away, it goes blank. I posted a thread about the problem in the Help and Support section. Here is the link to it. I run into it all the time with XP, and cannot get around it besides reinstalling, and I really dont want to go through that again. Thank you for your help.

The help & support group really isn't the place for that question, but it is
functioning as a catch-all area, so you may get a good answer (It was
supposed to be for help with...."help and support!"

I think I would have gone with XP General, or XP performance and
maintenance.

When you say it goes blank--does that mean black, or the color of your
desktop background (but no icons, etc), or what? What happens if you hit
CTRL-ALT-DELETE? If c-a-d works, what about file, run, explorer within
that?

Make sure you have permission to install the ActiveX control. Check
under IE Tools=>Internet Options=>Security->Custom Levels. Check to
see that ActiveX Controls aren't disabled (set to prompt).

However, the RD ActiveX Control is signed... Go to
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/rdwebconn.asp and
download a newer copy of the client.
