I have three machines, all which are web servers -- all
have Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 4 and Office
Service Pack 1. I am using many different "webs" on each
machine (all on different ports) -- running the virus
patches, then the Office XP Service Pack 1, then Windows
Service Pack 4, now I have issues where the RPC Service
will just stop for an unknown reason.
What is causing my RPC service on all three boxes to stop??
What can I do to fix this?

Do you have the post-SP4 hotfixes? Haven't you heard about MSBlaster etc?

Use the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyser to work out what further
patches you need:

O yah, I have the same expirience.
RPC stop for an unknown reason.

Now, could you restart it again?
If you can do so, it means, your system
is running ok, no virus, I think. :)

Try check the three boxes, and enable
the file-printer-sharing all of them.
Or, try to unable it at all. Uninstall
it from Add/Remove Program. Windows
Components.

For fastest connections, just, set the
fix ip in each box, do not use dhcp.

I think dhcp-client and server of w2k
has a bug.

I do not know how to set TTL in each
connection, maybe in registry of the
server.
