When installing x64 RC2 as an upgrade from RC1, I get an error 0xC0000005
when the installation reaches 55% of the "completing upgrade" part of the
process. Has anyone else encountered this (or a similar) error that can shed
any light on the problem?

Installing the 32-bit version as an upgrade from RC1 on my laptop went
without a hitch.

My desktop hardware comprises:
Athlon 64 X2 4200+
Asus M2N32-SLi Deluxe
2GB Corsair DDR667 RAM
300GB Samsung SpinPoint SATAII HDD
Philips LightScribe DVD-RW
Sony DVD-RW

I was unable to use the upgrade option to go from 5728 x64 to 5744. I also
could not install 5744 with Custom Install from the 5728 desktop. I had to
boot the computer with the dvd to complete an installation. The problem
seem to be that the installer failed to make Window Setup the default boot
and booted to the previous desktop and rolled back the installation. I did
not get an error number.

x64 5728 upgrade to 5744 went without a hitch here. This time all my
settings were correctly preserved too. Didn't have to uninstall anything
before the upgrade either.

I think I could have restarted Setup and succeeded by manually choosing the
right boot option, but it should have been set as the default.

Same exact issue here except it happens at 50%. x86 laptop was fine but x64
desktop no go. I have Daemon tools installed wich i will uninstall not and
try it.
