I can't get RC2 to install on my nForce 4 SLI motherboard w/SATA RAID.
It hangs after what is probably last boot during the installation
process.

Can anyone confirm this problem? Is it just my configuration?

I have the Asus A8N32 SLI, N-force 4, I do not use RAID but my install went
fine, I did an upgrade from RC1.

I couldn't upgrade from RC1 because RC1 won't install either. I was
hoping that the it would be fixed in RC2.

I had this problem with builds 5600 and 5728, but I am using an MSI
motherboard. I no longer use raid. Jetway builds the motherboards for EVGA I
believe so we hope they will provide Vista based raid drivers prior to final
release. However, although I have not tried this it certainly would not hurt
to start another installation and when you get to the screen asking where
you want to install Vista choose LOAD DRIVERS and load your nforce raid
drivers (for XP) and controller and see if the drive is recognized. If it is
then try the installation again. Please load the Microsoft beta client
software if you still have access to windows XP and report the problem and
also report it here:

This is not specific to RC2 - I have the same problem with RC! on an Abit SLI
mb running an AMD64 x2 3800 w/evga nvidia 6600gt video cards. It also has
RAID, which I am not using at the moment. I have a little more information as
to what is happening, and I would like to see how it compares with what is
happening to you.

First off, it begins to reboot after completing the install if you have the
ability to check the set-up logs. It goes through the boot process almost
completely and then either asks for or tries to set video card/monitor
settings which are incompatible. On mine it is trying to get 320 x 640 at 59
hz. It tries 3 times - then asks for 640 x 480 at 59 hz and hangs. There are
several logs that support this, but you will need a dualboot system so you
can use the other os to view them. Be very careful digging around - I'm very
nervous about system files across platforms and installations - don't want to
kill the one good OS I have left! I just did this and I'm looking for answers
also but maybe it will help someone else. One more piece of info - the RC1 I
downloaded was the 64bit a lot of reviewers don't seem to like. My main OS is
Windows XP pro 64bit AMD, which I like very much and have had no trouble
whatsoever with using.

I know that the drive is recognized because I boot from CD and do a
clean install on a partition set aside for Vista. It looks like it
could be a video problem because I find the following in the
setupact.log file:
dispci.dll: ============BEGIN DisplayClassInstaller============
dispci.dll: DisplayClassInstaller: Unrecognized DIF request 0x6
dispci.dll: ============END DisplayClassInstaller==============
montr_ci.dll: MonitorClassInstaller: Unrecognized DIF request
montr_ci.dll: Returning 0xe000020e for function 0x6.
dispci.dll: ============BEGIN DisplayClassInstaller============
dispci.dll: DisplayClassInstaller: Returning 0xe000020e for DIF 0xc
dispci.dll: ============END DisplayClassInstaller==============
montr_ci.dll: DIF_DESTROYPRIVATEDATA
montr_ci.dll: Returning 0xe000020e for function 0xc.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to fix this...

That is what I found also - I don't know how to fix it either. Reading the
ntbtlog.txt file after enabling bootlog says the thing hangs right after
loading the monitor - however when I checked the driver store it doesn't list
my Samsung 930b so it may be looking at the wrong and incompatible file. I
tried booting with vga enabled with no success either and also booted
allowing unsigned drivers which didn't help either.
