RC1 won't install Error code 0x0

Tried installing over XP SP2, didn't work. Just got install failed message,
error code 0x0. Then installed Vista Beta 2 Build 5384.4 over XP SP2, that
worked fine. Tried again to install RC! over Vista Beta 2 5384.4, and got the
same message. Install Failed Error Code 0x0... Reburned the iso to another
dvd and tried again.. No go.

Frazzled.... :-)
 
What do you mean by "install over". Do you mean upgrade or custom install
to the same partition? Were you booting from the dvd or installing from the
desktop?
 
Glad to hear it, but be sure to report the failed upgrade attempt via the
feedback link on your desktop. This is the scenario MS most wants to hear
about right now.

I have the same problem. I try to upgrade from xp home ( fully updated )
to vista from the dvd i burned off the downloaded program , using nero 7. I
click install, the screen with the blue curtains appears, after about 30 secs
i get

"windows setup experienced an unexpected error. to install windows restart
the installation. error 0x0 "

i've downloaded the file three times and burnt 4 dvds with the same result.
error 0x0 I tried the full install procedure up to clicking install and that
seemed to go ok. I did not proceed any farther as it's a pain reloading all
the resultant erased programs.

I'm having the same problem: completely update XP SP2. I can boot into it for
a clean install, but no upgrade...
 
Same problem here- can't upgrade from XP SP2 as I receive the same 0x0 error.
If I boot from the DVD it tells me there is some kind of IO error but
everything is running fine under XP.

Shame as I'd like to try it out :-(
