RC 1 is much more stable than Beta 2 5384 on my machine. I have also today boosted RAM from
512 to 1 Gb which also seems to help.

Probably, the single best investment you can spend that will
make a *real* difference in the performance of Vista, or
even WinXP.
I would say, the jump from 512MB to 1GB in Vista is huge-
very noticeable. From 1GB to 2GB is also worth it, but
not as readily apparent until you start doing some heavy
duty stuff and/or like to have multiple programs open.
If someone were to ask me the minimum RAM I would
recommend for Vista, it would 2GB. 2GB for the best
performance and for the *future*. Think back to the
minimum requirements for XP- no one would even
seriously recommend that now.
Vista beta bugs aside,
512 MB of RAM for Vista= bare minimum.
Who wants bare minimum? Would you want
your car to _barely_ run?
1 GB= a mostly pleasant experience.
1 GB RAM + ReadyBoost= satisfyingly good performance.
2GB= Bingo!
