Sadly I was playing Saints Row on xbox 360 when the news broke. Looks like
they quickly reached the download target.

Seeing as I purchased beta 2, I should get sent RC1 in the post. Does
anyone know how long they usually take to deliver after its released?

torrent is your best friend... ask or find the checksum for security

I think I will wait to get it officially, I am not into torrents. Thanks
all the same.

You haven't missed the boat... CPP users won't get RC1 til next week
earliest though I'm betting it'll be around the 12th since next week it goes
out to technet and msdn subscribers and us lowly CPP are last to get it.

TechBeta participants are downloading today.

I am a techbeta subscriber, I just missed out I think. Either that or I
cannot find the right link. I didn't get an email from MS so I guess I am
not one of the trialists.

If you are a member of the techbeta, login to Connect then head to the
Vista/Longhorn program page. Click Downloads and the build is listed second
from the top if you are using the default sorting options.

Thanks but I cannot find it. Maybe its because its late and my eyes are
crossing. lol

Bad suggestion.
There is no legitimate source outside Microsoft for RC-1.

Apparently not the OPs best friend and certainly not mine.
It seems you over estimate the value of sources for stolen software.

I have not gotten the email yet, but I just logged into Connect/My
Participation/etc as usual and lo and behold there it was big as life.

Hopefully you are not confusing this with the CPP program.

Well I can login there. In My participation area, I can see only Visual
Studio 2005.
Whilst I am signed up there, I didn't actually get Vista from there before,
I bought the DVD from them. So maybe thats why its not on my list because I
was never on the original trial for it via Technet?

That is correct. If you signed up through the CPP for the dvd mailings and
paid the shipping fee then you do not have access to TechBeta. Enrollment
closed a year ago, so all you can do now is wait for your email and watch
for the update to the CPP page on GetReady.

The TechBeta program is offically called
"Windows Vista, Longhorn Server and IE 7 Beta"
and if you do not see that on your Available Connections or My Participation
pages then you are not participating.

Thanks Colin, I thought that might have been the case
