RC1 dual boot - won't boot up

Did an upgrade in an XP/Vista dual boot. Upon the final reboot, the Vista
RC1 will not boot up. The PC just re-boots, and gives me possible choices to
take (i.e. safe mode, safe mode w/promt, last known configuration that
worked, etc. The error indicated to boot up from the install DVD, and choose
"repair", I did that but it still fails. I also did not see my Vista
partition (beta-2) which used to be my G: drive. Any ideas?

Hmm, seems awful familiar. I did the same thing but somehow the install
overwrote my main boot and when it did boot, it never gave me an option to
boot to the previous operating system. Somehow it was there but was now
corupted so it was not detected as a viable operating system. I finally did
a complete reinstall of XP to the primary partition. Then while still in XP,
ran the setup for Vista. (Because I use a Raid system, I found out the hard
way that I cannot boot from the DVD, which is what happened in the first
place and why it got confused).
Ensuring that it was to go in the second partition (already had formated it
NFS), I loaded Vista.
It now boots showing vista and previous operating system with a 30
second timer to choose betweem the two.

Good Luck!

I have the dual boot menu screen, but it appears a couple of more entries
were added. I can access XP choosing previous operating system. I just
can't login to Vista. I get the "dancing green bars" going across the
bottom, and then it re-boots itself. Sure would appreciate some more help,
as I am trying to recover a few days worth of Outlook email. I may just try
to recover the .pst file (which appears to be a back-up .ink now), and just
wipe the damn partition and re-install.

Thanks,
Jim
